TOWN OF TORBAY TO LAUNCH NEW CAPITAL CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS FOR
NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART COMMUNITY CENTRE

Who: Scott Stirling, Honorary Chair; Brian Groves, Campaign Chair; Mayor Craig Scott and Representatives of the Council of the Town of Torbay and surrounding municipalities, members of the business community and residents.

Background: Situated right on the Atlantic Ocean, the Town of Torbay offers breathtaking coastal views in a picturesque, rural setting. With a population of 7,900, the town is a vibrant, evolving community with a long and colourful history that dates back to the 1500s. The Torbay Common Get it on the go Capital Campaign will raise $1.5 million in private sector funds to support the construction of a new $8.9 million, 22,000 sq. ft. community centre in the Town of Torbay. The facility will serve communities in the Northeast Avalon with a population of approximately 18,000 and will be a common ground for young and old alike, providing opportunity for recreational, social and cultural activities that will benefit the town and the NE Avalon region for generations to come.
